Land Remediation
Relief
Land Remediation Relief (LRR) allows companies to claim tax relief on the costs of cleaning up land or buildings that are contaminated — or on works carried out to bring derelict land back into productive use.
Our specialists can review and analyse your remediation expenditure to identify which costs qualify for relief, ensuring you maximise the value of your claim.
What is
Land Remediation
Relief?
Land Remediation Relief (LRR) is one of the most generous tax incentives available to investors and property developers. It allows a tax deduction of up to 150% of qualifying expenditure spent on cleaning up contaminated land and buildings.
This relief can cover land affected by previous industrial activities or naturally occurring contaminants. It also applies to derelict land that has been unused since at least 1 April 1998, helping bring it back into productive use.
Are You Eligible?
To claim Land Remediation Relief (LRR), certain conditions must be met. Typical beneficiaries include investors, property developers, housebuilders, and owner-occupiers. You can quickly check your eligibility by asking yourself these four questions:
Are you liable for Corporation Tax?
Is the land located in the UK?
Do you have a legal interest in the land?
Were you not responsible for the contamination, and do you have no connection to the original polluter?
If you answered “yes” to these questions, you may be eligible to claim valuable tax relief.
